Charleston Harbor Sailing Sunset Charter

4 Iconic Charleston Landmarks You’ll See on Our Charleston Harbor Sailing Charter

Charleston, often referred to as the Holy City, is a charming coastal gem known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture. When you come aboard a private charter, you’ll have the opportunity to view several iconic landmarks that make up our town. From the majestic Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge to the historic Fort Sumter and the mighty USS Yorktown, each landmark weaves a tale of the city’s past and present. Here are four sights you can expect when sailing with us (pending our course based on the wind):

1. The Battery and White Point Gardens:

This waterfront seawall is a stunning sight from our sailboat and it will be the first landmark you will see as we embark on our journey. You’ll be able to see the beautiful lined mansions and waterfront promenade that is one of the most visited spots in all of Charleston.

2. Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge:

The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, also known as the Cooper River Bridge, is an engineering marvel that spans the entire Cooper River, connecting downtown Charleston with Mount Pleasant. Rising to a height of 575 feet, this cable-stayed bridge offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline for those looking to walk, jog, or cycle across. During our time together, you will definitely have opportunities to take pictures with the bridge as a gorgeous backdrop.

3. USS Yorktown:

Perched on Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, the USS Yorktown is a majestic aircraft carrier-turned-museum that played a pivotal role in World War II. During the sail, you’ll be able to view the impressive flight deck that still houses multiple aircraft.

4. Fort Sumter:

Fort Sumter holds significant historical importance as the site where the American Civil War began. Located in Charleston Harbor, this National Monument is accessible only by boat and offers a glimpse into the events that shaped the nation’s history. As we trim by, we invite our guests to imagine the echoes of the cannon fire that reverberated across the harbor.

When you embark on a sailing journey aboard Esprit de Joy, you’ll be able to view many iconic landmarks that tell the story of Charleston’s charm and grandeur.
